Cambars Breeding Scheme - More details

Online database

We are setting up an online database for the breeding program. There are several uses for this:
  • To establish a 'family tree' of all the birds in the scheme.
  • Let members of the scheme register their birds.
  • Give each registered bird a unique id and encourage potential buyers to ask for an id check to make sure any bird is a genuine part of the breeding program (to discourage fakes).
  • To help members with their line-breeding.
  • As a contact/exchange point for members of the scheme (contact details can be hidden if requested).
The database will be accessible by all members of the scheme (via login id & password).

Record Keeeping

Why keep records? To develop and maintain a breed requires patience - its not going to happen in a single generation. If you are like me then you will not be able to remember every detail of line-breeding year after year. So we are asking people to keep a set of simple records of the breeding pairs and the results of hatchings (including colouring/sex/egg laying, etc). If we share that information it will help everyone.

Egg exchanging

We ask that members be prepared to swap eggs/chicks with other members for breeding purposes. The reason for this is to help the overall scheme - in the spirit of cooperating with fellow breeders.

What does it cost?

We are selling breeding pairs for £60 (due to very short supply of birds) includes membership of breeding scheme. Different combinations can be negotiated. Please note that current supply is very limited.
